Currently, when I search for a species to assign it to a fursona, the search appears to be case sensitive. Ie. it matters if you type in "cat" or "Cat" or even "CAT", as results are excluded if they don't exactly match. I think it would be far more productive to make species search results case insensitive, as it would make finding species on the list much quicker.
