There could be many ways to display users on a map without doxxing them. Since Barq already places users by town (I saw that's planned to be opt-out), what I think could work is the way Craigslist displays listings on its map, where the listings in a given area display as bubbles, which combine into bigger bubbles with radiuses as big as the town itself as you zoom out. On a hypothetical Barq map these bubbles would simply place themselves over the center of a town without getting any more specific. Users that opt out of their town being shown in their profile would be omitted from the map of course. Example of Craigslist's implementation below. I'm not neurodivergent myself, but maybe a map could also be helpful from an accessibility perspective?
