As it stands right now when you open barq you only ever see the same 15 profiles. Never anything new. So after a few looks there's no reason to check it anymore unless you get a notification. And even if you message someone, how do you know if they're active or haven't even looked at the app in forever? Letting us filter by online and/or active today makes it easier to find people to talk to and gives people more of a reason to check the app to see who's around .
