Specifically for the events search, but it looks like the search filter is the same implementation regardless of what is being shown. The current jump from 250 to infinite doesn't really make it easy to see whats actually happening in my travelable area. I live in Germany, but closer to Amsterdam(120Km) than Berlin(400Km) and a flight to London(540Km) is sometimes cheaper than getting to either of these cities. To get around this problem, a custom distance would be a great starting point.
