Can't update app to fix messages bug

So recently I had the whole can't open messages bug (still do). I saw it was fixed in 1.6.1 but when I go to the app store to download the update it says "Open" not "update" and the version is 1.5.0 as "up to date version" on the app store, but my app is 1.6.0 and I can't seem to update it to 1.6.1 via the app store.
