Denying location initially but allowing it later breaks the live location page

I intially disallowed permission for the app to use my location, but now that I have allowed it through settings and restarted the app, I now see the live location settings BELOW the "Permission denied" message, and the "Use my live location" button is permentaly greyed out. I'm sure a reinstall will fix the issue but it's still a bug. Screenshot attached.
